LONG BIO

Matt Prescott is the author of four novels including his epic Western series, the TEMPERANCE TRILOGY. A long-time fan of Western movies, Prescott drew inspiration from stories and images created by Clint Eastwood, Sergio Leone, Budd Boetticher, Elmore Leonard and many others to craft his own modern, fast-paced take on the beloved Western genre.

As a child in the suburbs of Seattle, Prescott wore cowboy boots to school when all the kids around him were sporting high-tops, and for a long time wanted to be a cowboy when he grew up. In a way, writing stories about the lawless gunfighters of the late 1800’s has allowed him to do just that.

When he wasn’t dreaming of living in the Wild West, Prescott had the desire to become a filmaker and after writing and producing a few short films, he learned that getting one of his ideas made into a full-length feature was next to impossible. Turning his back on the up-hill battle that awaited him in Hollywood, Prescott focused on the only other medium that would bring the stories in his head to life and began writing.

After an idea came to him for a Western story that had never been told before, Prescott honed his skills as a novelist and with feedback from his parents—both of whom are writers—he crafted his first book, TEMPERANCE. As he was building story and his characters, Prescott realized that what he was creating was bigger that just one novel and decided to map out what would become a Western trilogy with twists and turns and a scale not unlike George Lucas’ original STAR WARS trilogy.

Matt Prescott writes Western novels not only for traditional Western fans but also modern audiences who may not have the patience to read about cowboys sitting around a fire eating beans. His settings are gritty and real, his heroes flawed and his villains are as complicated as they are evil. Prescott truly believes that the Western genre is not dead and that with a few great stories it could again be the powerhouse it once was.

When he’s not writing, Prescott teaches guitar lessons and runs a small business in the music industry. He now lives in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, Idaho with his wife and daughter.

A native of Seattle, Prescott has spent every summer of his life visiting family in beautiful Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and truly has a love for the area. When he’s not writing, Prescott teaches guitar lessons and runs a small business in the music industry. He now lives in Coeur d’Alene with his wife, Linda, his daughter, Emily and his dog, Hurley.
